This shrub can reach a max height of 8ft but rarely does so, often leaning, and filling out up to around 5 feet wide. Evergreen, very tough and drought tolerant with light orange flowers, it is best used as an accent for a hot area in most San Diego gardens. This species will also readily re-seed around its original location, making up for its shorter lifespan of 5-6 years plus. Being local to east county and the Mt Helix area, it is a better choice for inland garden for best effect in creating habitat, although it will still do well in coastal zones.
