Yerba mansa is a common sight in healthy wetlands, streams and ponds throughout California and beyond. Large broad leaves stand out among other vegetation, and it spreads by runners to anywhere with sufficient moisture. Flowers are unique, emerging from a central cone like structure, while the large white bracts around it appear more like regular petals. Yerba mansa does go dormant for part of the year, from late summer until late winter, reliably re-sprouting. Natural anti bacterial properties lend it towards medicinal uses as well.
