The San Diego bush sunflower, also known as torn-leaf sunflower, is an easy to grow sunflower tolerant of varying conditions. A southern California endemic, it is a great choice for the local region, fairly evergreen, drought tolerant, and host to many pollinators. Growing up to 4-5 feet max and flowering over a large part of the year, it is an easy choice for low maintenance gardens. You can with a little effort, trim old dead seed heads for extra blooms, just make sure to leave the seed for the birds!
