Jojoba is a medium shrub, reaching around 7ft max, famous for the oil that is found in its seeds. Its natural range is southern California, Baja Mexico, and some parts of Arizona and Utah. It is a tough shrub that can tolerate conditions in all of these areas, including nutrient poor soils, and high temperatures. A great choice for any location where a large 15ft plus chaparral shrub is too large, or in hot inland parts of Socal. If you do want to produce the Jojoba nuts, you will need both a male and female plant. The nuts themselves have been used in cosmetics as the seed oil contains iodine and will not block pores. It was also used as a replacement for engine oil during the second world war.
