The yellow evening primrose is commonly seen throughout California in riparian and wetland areas like streams rivers and ponds. It can also easily survive in drier areas in garden settings with some regular watering every couple of weeks or so. This is a wildflower with a short lifespan, but unlike many other wildflowers will very often live for two years or even more. leaves grow out from a central point similar to an agave, and a tall stem will eventually emerge from the center and bear bright yellow flowers reminiscent of wild roses. Spreads very easily from seeds and is a good choice to reclaim weedy areas.
