Yellow bush penstemon, also known as Chaparral beard-tongue, is one of the largest and most woody of the local penstemon species. Reaching to more than 6ft in height, and profuse with large yellow flowers reminiscent of snapdragons, it is an eye catching plant. Tolerant of dry conditions in chaparral, dry forest and even some desert areas, this shrub tends to lose its leaves in summer. It makes up for this however by springing into color once the summer season ends. A less often available plant that will surely make your landscape pop and also attract many pollinators.
