The low growing light green foliage of Scarlet monkeyflower is complemented by its namesake red blooms. The curved flowers, resembling a snapdragon pressed on the sides, are attractive and great nectar sources for various wildlife including hummingbirds. This low growing species can tolerate some full sun, but is almost always found in the wild near some kind of water source, and typically partly shaded areas. Wetlands and moist areas are best, where it can proliferate and re-seed. A popular choice for many gardens for the blooms and pollinator activity, as well as being shorter than 4ft. Also great for well watered container gardens.
