Cylindropuntia prolifera – Coastal Cholla 1gallon

Coastal Cholla, as its name suggests, is the only Cholla species found near coastal areas in Southern California, although its range spreads beyond that barely north of the L.A area and into Baja California. As is characteristic of cholla species this is a very spiny cactus, but perhaps less so than some of the desert species.

Suitable for dry and full sun gardens, this species provides brilliant reddish/magenta flowers that are very attractive to bees, and an interesting shape that can break up a landscape of shrubs and provide visual contrast. Evergreen and hardy, this is an easy to grow plant for cactus and succulent lovers!
