Bush monkey flower, or sticky monkey flower, is a landscape favorite. A small shrub rarely exceeding 2ft in height with persistent red flowers. Common in the wild due to interactions with many pollinators, and common in landscapes due to the beautiful flowers and ease of care. Monkey flower can handle full sun, especially by the coast, but it will also do fine in shady spots, especially in hotter, further inland areas. In addition, it works well as a potted plant for a patio due to its small size. In the summer, its best to lay off on watering especially after its first year, and let it go partially dormant. It may lose leaves and look a bit haggard, especially in very hot summer conditions, but will return with vigor in spring. Really a versatile and beautiful part of local habitats.
